This small island will be a terrific place to be in the lead up to and during the Ryder Cup in September 2006. During previous major sporting events, such as the soccer World Cups of 1990 & 1994 and the 2002 Special Olympics, nothing else was news. The Ryder Cup in 2006 promises to be the biggest sporting party of all time in Ireland! The annual All-Ireland football final has even changed its traditional September Sunday date.

Golf clubs, accommodations and other tourism concerns are gearing up for a huge influx of visitors from both the U.S.A and Europe. For golfers planning to play golf in Ireland before, during or after the Ryder Cup we will provide our normal individual attention to each an every tour.

Non-Ryder Cup Attendance Options

Tailor-Made Golf Tours is finalising details of a number of fixed golf itineraries to coincide with the Ryder Cup. Details of these itineraries and prices will be posted here in April 2005. Please e-mail us if you would like to be notified of these itineraries (please also include the golfing area/courses you would like to play).

In addition Tailor-Made Golf Tours is organising several Celtic Cup matches at various locations in Ireland. Each match will pit 12 U.S.A. golfers against 12 European golfers over 3 days (including the 3 Ryder Cup days) and consist of 6 fourball matches on the first two mornings and 12 singles matches on the final morning. Finally, during the course of 2005 Tailor-Made Golf Tours will accept customised golf tour enquiries for 2006. However it is likely that confirmation of tee-times and accommodation availability will not be available until November 2005. The normal practice at most clubs is to accept requests and file them until the 2006 timesheets open in the winter of 2005. Demand for the most popular visitor courses is likely to exceed supply so early booking is essential.
